UST welcomes 39,152 students on first day of AY 2023-2024

A TOTAL of 39,152 students have enrolled in the University of Santo Tomas for the first term of the academic year 2023-2024, data from the Office of the Registrar showed.

Data obtained by The Flame showed that 32,397 have enrolled in various faculties, colleges and institutes as of Wednesday, August 9, the first day of classes. Basic education, which consists of high school and senior high school, has 6,755 students so far.

The number of enrollees may still increase as UST will run its late enrollment period until Monday, Aug. 14.

The Faculty of Arts and Letters has a total of 3,253 enrolled students: 1,246 freshmen, 748 sophomores, 728 juniors and 801 seniors.

The communication program has the most number of Artlet enrollees this term with 554. Of these students, 187 are freshmen; 109 are sophomores; 116 are juniors; and 142 are seniors. Three students of the old communication arts program have enrolled this term, all of them are in their senior year.

It is followed by the political science program with 475 enrollees. Of the figure, 187 are freshmen, 108 are sophomores, 99 are juniors and 81 are seniors.

A total of 456 students have enrolled in the behavioral science program. It has 121 freshmen, 111 sophomores, 101 juniors and 123 seniors.

The legal management program has recorded 389 enrollees: 188 freshmen, 72 sophomores, 62 juniors and 67 seniors.

Out of the 323 journalism students that have enrolled this term, 108 are freshmen; 61 are sophomores; 71 are juniors; and 83 are seniors.

The philosophy program has logged 224 enrollees, which consists of 88 freshmen, 37 sophomores, 44 juniors and 55 seniors.

The number of students in the economics program has totaled 219. Of the total economics students, 88 are freshmen, 43 are sophomores, 53 are juniors and 35 are seniors.

The Asian studies program has recorded 216 enrollees. It has 67 freshmen, 38 sophomores, 46 juniors and 65 seniors.

A total of 196 creative writing students have enrolled this term, 62 of them freshmen, 54 sophomores, 43 juniors and 37 seniors.

The English language studies program has tallied 130 enrollees: 42 freshmen, 35 sophomores, 22 juniors and 31 seniors.

Out of the 128 students that have enrolled in the sociology program, 41 are freshmen; 30 are sophomores; 24 are juniors and 33 are seniors.

The history program has recorded 113 enrollees. The program has 37 freshmen, 32 sophomores 22 juniors and 22 seniors.

The literature program has recorded 97 enrollees: 29 freshmen, 19 sophomores, 25 juniors and 24 seniors.

Last academic year, the Office of the Registrar recorded 43,631 enrollees for the first term. There were 3,252 Artlet enrollees, 765 of them from the first-year level.
