THE UNIVERSITY may exceed its total number of publications and online citations from 2024 and may sustain the upward trend in both its Web of Science and Scopus-indexed outputs, according to the mid-year data released by the UST Research Center for Social Sciences and Education (RCSSED).
A recent Facebook post by RCSSED showed that the numbers in both databases already passed the halfway mark of last year’s total outputs.
UST has published 252 Scopus-indexed articles as of July 1, more than half of the 432 works published in the entire previous year. If the current numbers surpass the previous year’s total production, it would extend the University’s upward trend in Scopus research output that started in 2019.
The Scopus-indexed materials tally showed consistent rise over the past five years, from 227 outputs in 2019, 282 in 2020, 330 in 2021, 348 in 2022, 392 in 2023 and 432 in 2024.
Meanwhile, the University already logged 191 entries in the Web of Science database during the first six months of this year. This year may mark the third consecutive year of increase in Web of Science-indexed output, should UST surpass its 2024 tally.
While UST’s research production dropped to 341 in 2022 from 353 in the previous year, it recorded higher numbers in 2023 (344) and 2024 (349).
Scopus and Web of Science are two of the leading citation and indexing databases used by academic institutions and researchers around the world. F
