THE FACULTY of Arts and Letters (AB) Men’s Volleyball Team advanced to the semifinals of the Thomasian Goodwill Games after brushing off the College of Commerce and Business Administration, 26-24 and 25-20, at the P. Noval Court Thursday.
Both teams maintained a close fight early in the opening set but as Commerce inched closer to a first frame victory, 24-23, AB unleashed a 3-0 run capped by a quick hit by team captain Russel Wilfred Estrada.
Commerce capitalized on AB’s errors to overcome deficit early at the second frame, 18-15, and continued to have the upper hand at 20-18.
But the men in blue then delivered a crushing 7-0 run, sealing the match to their favor.
“[M]agkakakilala na talaga sila inside and outside the court at masasabi [kong] pamilya ‘yung turing nila sa isa’t isa kaya pagdating sa game mahirap sila sirain or talunin, kasi mahirap sirain ang pamilya ‘pag sa totoong buhay,” AB team coach John David Subiere said.
AB will face the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management Men’s Volleyball Team on Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. to vie for a finals slot. F ALI IAN MARCELINO V. BIONG
