THE FACULTY of Arts and Letters (AB) Women’s Basketball Team surrendered to the College of Education’s late runs, 44-46, during its first match in the latest season of the Thomasian Goodwill Games held Feb. 15.
AB started hot in the game and kept Education trailing from first to third quarter, 12-3, 23-13, and 35-24.
However, fouls marred AB’s momentum in the last frame, allowing Education to find its pace through free throws and three-pointers from Pauline Barin, 44-44.
A shot from Danielle Amarante allowed Education to surge past AB, 46-44.
“Mas sinipagan kasi ng Education kaya nahabol nila kami. Then, nagkulang rin kami sa communication as a team kaya ‘yun ‘yung need namin i-improve for the next game,” AB team captain Jonne Senga told the Flame in an online exchange.
“Kailangan lang namin ilaro ‘yung system na [tini-train] namin kasi ‘yun ‘yung magpapapanalo sa amin for our next games,” she added.
Education’s main gunner Barin finished with 19 points, while Argielyn Dequit dropped 12 points.
Bea Diwa, on the other hand, led AB with 10 points while Senga and Hershey Pernia finished with nine points each.
AB will face the College of Fine Arts and Design on Thursday. F
