COMMUNICATION ARTS (CA) defended its Athena Cup basketball tourney title after trumping Economics, 63-58, on Wednesday at the Seminary Gym.
Economics led early at 23-16, but consecutive three-pointers from CA’s Milo Chu immediately closed the gap, 23-22. The second quarter ended deadlocked at 27.
CA’s defense was strong enough to maintain its lead in the third quarter, although the opposing team also improved in its defensive rebounds.
Consecutive shots from CA’s Nicko Bahia in the last minute of the game secured the lead for his team, 61-58, leaving Economics with no time to come back.
CA team captain Erick How said he is grateful for the back-to-back win that they pulled off even with little time to practice.
“[W]e have to give credit to our players who are playing in the varsity of the AB Men’s Basketball Team kasi they have contributed a lot in winning the games,” he said. “Sobrang thankful ako for the team.” F
