THE UST Golden Booters and Season 86 finalists FEU Tamaraws battled to a goalless stalemate, 0-0, in the second round of the UAAP Season 87 men’s football tournament on Thursday, Nov. 14, at the UP Football Pitch.

After splitting the points, the Morayta squad remained in the second spot with 17 points, while the España-based squad stayed as the fourth seed with 13 points.

In the first half, Golden Booter John Baito squandered a golden opportunity with an off-target shot, missing a chance to score a goal.

UST continued to struggle due to unforced errors and FEU’s high press, keeping both teams knotted up.

Despite multiple tries in the second half, both teams were unable to find the back of the net.

As tensions ran high throughout the match, UST rookie striker Renan Ballespin picked up a yellow card amid the intense play. Meanwhile, FEU’s Selwyn Mamon received a yellow card after a heated confrontation with Golden Booter captain and goalkeeper Miguel Abada.

”I really focused after returning from injury. After losing to Adamson, we needed to bounce back today. It’s not just me, it’s also my teammates who motivated me during the game,” Abada, who racked up 15 saves during the game, told The Flame.

“We had chances, but we weren’t able to convert. We were hungry for the win, but we couldn’t score,” he added.
