THE UST Lady Booters ended their winless streak after dominating the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 3-0, in the UAAP Season 87 women’s football tournament on Saturday, Nov. 16.
After a 2-all draw with the top-seeded DLSU Lady Booters in their Round 2 opener, the UST Lady Booters bounced back and secured their first win of the season at the UP Football Pitch.
Lady Booter Gleydile Añonuevo scored UST’s first goal after finding the back of the net in the 37th minute.
The España-based squad doubled their advantage when midfielder Judy Prado fired a clinical finish in the 86th minute.
UST sealed the victory in stoppage time after forward Christy Logastua buried one in the 96th minute, putting the game out of reach.
With the victory, UST climbed to third place with five points. Meanwhile, Ateneo dropped to the bottom of the standings with four points.
UST will aim to book a finals ticket when they take on defending champions FEU Lady Tamaraws on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the same venue. F
