THE UST Growling Tigers and Tigresses received a boost in financial support after inking a sponsorship deal with a construction company owned by a Thomasian engineering alumnus.

Archi Cast formalized the partnership with the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics (IPEA) through a memorandum of agreement signed on March 19, Wednesday, at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.

The company is owned by construction magnate and UST civil engineering alumnus John Paul Pe.

“They (Archi Cast) are going to support the men’s and women’s basketball teams. They will be providing cash sponsorships for the support of the team,” IPEA Regent and Director Rev. Fr. Rodel Cansancio, O.P., told The Flame.

According to Cansancio, the sponsorship will significantly contribute to the development of the teams.

“The funding will cover the team’s training camp and uniforms, as well as additional allowances for both players and coaches”, he added.

Cansancio clarified that Pe’s support does not replace existing sponsors but adds to the list of backers supporting UST’s basketball programs.

The construction magnate’s son, Paulo Pe, was part of the Tigers from Season 74 to 76 before stepping away to focus on his studies.

With the additional sponsorship, both basketball teams gain more resources as they prepare for upcoming seasons, including player recruitment leading up to UAAP Season 88.

The Tigers secured a Final Four spot for the first time in five seasons, finishing with a 7-7 win-loss record.

Meanwhile, the Growling Tigresses wrapped up their campaign with a 12-2 slate. F
