THE UST Teletigers Esports Club (UST TGR) made easy work of the FEU Tamaraws Esports, 2-0, to begin the UAAP Season 87 esports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament at the Gateway 2 Quantum Skyview on May 13, Tuesday.

UST claimed three points in Group A, tying Adamson at the top of the standings.

In the first match, the Tamaraws made an early pickoff during the turtle fight as they put down three Teletigers to take an early 3-0 lead.

Midway through the match, Kevin Reyes’s Cecilion went for a savage while attempting a Lord Dance to cut FEU’s deficit to 20-13.

Reyes could have snowballed and ended the game early, but UST’s minions surprisingly took down the base turret to win the first match.

Benjamin Lukban emerged as the MVP with Granger, delivering 13 kills, two deaths and eight assists.

The Teletigers carried their momentum into the second match as they secured a commanding 17-4 victory.

With an unconventional but crucial draft choice of Ramuel Belga for Kalea and Arjohn Roxas for Chip, UST took advantage and got its first win in the bracket.

UST analyst Riyu Kusada could not believe that Kalea and Chip were both open, knowing that both heroes fall under the “ban one, take one” concept.

“They are relatively a new team… If our top and bottom lanes didn’t have good flow, the game might not have ended yet,” Kusada told The Flame.

“It is an advantage to secure all meta heroes, but doesn’t guarantee you a win,” he added.

Lukban continued to steer his team to the win as he was also named MVP with Irithel, collecting seven kills, no deaths and nine assists.

“We enter UAAP with expectations, we fight prepared, and we leave no regrets,” Kusada said.

The Teletigers will try to beat the Adamson Soaring Falcons on May 14, Wednesday, at the same venue. F – Francia Migyel Violeta with reports from Christian Querol
