FOLLOWING A promising rookie season in Ateneo, Kristian Porter has officially transferred to España to continue his collegiate hoops journey with the UST Growling Tigers.
Tigers’ assistant coach Juben Ledesma confirmed the move to The Flame.

In a social media post from the UST Growling Tigers, Porter is seen posing in front of the Plaza Mayor with head coach Pido Jarencio and team manager Wayip Chong.
The former Blue Eagle announced his exit on May 21 through a heartfelt message for Ateneo, along with all the people who guided him throughout his tenure in the Jesuit institution.
“I hold deeply in my heart the people who have been with me throughout my journey,” the 19-year-old Porter said in a social media post.
“Thank you for making this dreamer into a believer. Once a blue eagle, forever a blue eagle,” he added.
Shortly after his departure from Ateneo, Porter was seen touring around the UST campus.
The 6-foot-5 big man is expected to add firepower to the Tigers in Season 89 after his one-year residency, which will also see the exits of veterans Nic Cabañero and Forthsky Padrigao.
In his lone season with Ateneo, the Cebuano-based Porter averaged 6.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. However, the Blue Eagles dropped to a league-worst 4-10 record.
Meanwhile, a familiar face and former Tiger Cub James Jumao-as will also be returning to España.
Jumao-as, who played two seasons with the Letran Knights, will add depth to the Tigers’ backcourt in Season 89 after a year of residency.
“Jumao-as has already joined a couple of our practices, but I think he’s still fixing his stuff from Letran,” Ledesma told The Flame.
In his stint with the Intramuros-based squad in NCAA Season 100, he tallied averages of 2.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.
Jumao-as will enter a lineup filled with acquaintances as he shared the court with current Tigers Mark Llemit, Koji Buenaflor and Charles Bucsit during his high school days. F
