THE UST Lady Booters closed their first-round campaign with a 1-1 draw against the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the UAAP Season 88 women’s football tournament on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the UP Diliman Football Field.
UST now holds a 1-1-2 win-draw-loss slate, good for third in the standings, while the Katipunan squad sits behind them at fourth.
After a scoreless first half, Senior Christy Logastua broke the deadlock in the 59th minute, muscling her way into the box to slot in the opener for UST 1-0.
But Blue Eagle striker Jada Bicierro struck back in the 79th minute, slipping past multiple defenders to notch her third goal of the season, and level the match at 1-all.
Both sides tightened up defensively in the closing minutes, with UST’s Jearfelyn Ramos thwarting a late Bicierro attempt.
Neither team found the breakthrough as the match ended in a stalemate.
The schedule for the second round of the women’s football tournament has yet to be released. F
