UST Prime bags back-to-back silver finishes in UAAP street dance

Galvanize returns to podium with runner-up showing

UST Prime secured its second straight silver medal finish in the UAAP Season 88 street dance competition on Sunday, May 3, at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gymnasium.

Delivering a traditional Chinese-inspired routine, the Thomasians tallied 92.17 points to place just behind champions UP Streetdance Club, which scored 93.33.

Prime posted 46.30 in artistry and 46.70 in execution.

The DLSU Dance Company finished third with a love-themed performance set to Ben&Ben’s “Araw-Araw,” earning 90.33 points to complete the podium.

Company of Ateneo Dancers and Adamson University Dance Company-Street shared fourth place with identical scores of 89.83.

Rounding out the eight-team collegiate field were National University Dance Company (89.00), Far Eastern University Street Alliance (87.83), and University of the East’s East Force Dance Company (79.67).

In the high school division, UST Galvanize returned to the podium with a runner-up finish after missing out last season, scoring 86.83 points. The squad’s routine paid tribute to the hits of Michael Jackson.

Adamson University Dance Company-Street clinched its first-ever UAAP high school streetdance title with a Mexican-inspired performance that earned 88.17 points.

FEU-Diliman T.A.M. Streetz placed third with 85.50 points, while NUDC-Nazalian Street followed closely with 85.17, performing to Ebe Dancel’s “Burnout.”

Completing the seven-team field were Ateneo’s Indayog ng Atenistang Kabataan (84.83), East Force Varsity (76.67), and De La Salle Zobel Dance Crew (76.50). F
