THE CATHOLIC Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has released a new website to make the Church more accessible to the public, its news arm reported.
Lipa Archbishop Gilbert Garcera announced the revamped website cbcp.ph during the 132nd plenary assembly in Ozamis City on July 8, a move that he said would allow the Church to “modernize evangelization through effective communication.”
“The launch comes as the bishops continue to emphasize the need for more effective communication with Filipinos beyond those already active in parish life,” a report by CBCP News said.
According to Garcera, the new design bypasses institutional clutter by consolidating official statements, pastoral letters and its internal news reports into one online dashboard designed for both desktop and mobile users. Its portal also includes liturgical resources, pastoral materials, and searchable profiles for the bishops of every single diocese, offering equal online visibility to rural and isolated provinces to that of large archdioceses in urban centers.
The previous website was redesigned to display a simpler layout for easier navigation. Garcera said the redesign would also serve as a more convenient location for journalists, priests and the youth to fact-check and verify information.
Over 80 bishops participated in CBCP’s 132nd plenary assembly. Hosted by the Archdiocese of Ozamis, the event discussed pastoral concerns on mental health, environmental problems and other issues facing the Church and the country. F – Marcus Roshaun Holman
