SOME SECTIONS from eight Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB) departments are now holding classes at the Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati, O.P. Building and the Thomas Aquinas Research Complex (TARC) due to higher number of enrollees and increased onsite class hours.
Artlets Faculty Secretary Asst. Prof. Louie Benedict Ignacio said the faculty had to look for available classrooms in various UST buildings to accommodate more students while implementing the full onsite and online classes in separate weeks this academic year.

“[W]ith the setup of 1.5, 1.5, both sessions will require a room. So, it’s because of that, and with the increasing number of [students], it’s constant… I think batch 2026 is the last batch with a few students. We had 700 graduates. But with batch 2027, that’s 1,000,” Ignacio told The Flame.
“So, to address that, we look for classrooms that are available. And we have rooms, of course, [St. Raymund de Peñafort Building] and [Buenaventura Garcia Paredes, O.P. Building], and then, Frassati and TARC,” he added.
According to a document posted by the faculty on Facebook, the programs that have borrowed classrooms from the Frassati and TARC buildings are Behavioral Science, Communications, History, Journalism, Legal Management, Philosophy, Creative Writing and Asian Studies.
Three Legal Management sections, namely 3LM1, 3LM2 and 4LM1, will hold all their classes at the Frassati, which houses the Senior High School and the College of Information and Computing Sciences.
Ignacio said seven classrooms in Frassati and two in TARC were lent to AB.

According to Ignacio, AB can accommodate a maximum of 30 sections per year level. He said the faculty is still looking for other options to manage the growing number of students while maintaining the hybrid setup. F – with reports from Yelah Israel
