FOLLOWING COMPLAINTS about the insufficient freshmen kits among Artlets, the president of the Faculty of Arts and Letters Student Council (ABSC) said the number of first year enrollees exceeded the initial 1,200-souvenir count.

“Due to the increasing number of freshmen as enrollment is still ongoing until the 22nd, the number exceeded 1,200, which was the number already given to us,” ABSC president Jennille Elisha Butacan told The Flame.

Butacan said that among the 13 AB departments, Asian Studies and English Language Studies are the only programs that have so far maintained the number of freshmen since the start of the enrollment period.

The Political Science Forum President Alexisse Calibo said about 15 freshmen from the department were unable to claim their kits.

“On our end, we only received 165 kits in total and the number of our students is around 180, so there are students who weren’t able to receive their kits. However, we explained that other kits are to follow,” Calibo told The Flame.

The Behavioral Science Society said 10 freshmen were not able to get the souvenir.

“Just to clarify, the remaining 10 kits were not out of stock. There was a logistical issue on the end of the Artlets Student Council, which resulted in the kits not being turned over to us,” said Behavioral Science Society president Jim Adrian Flores.

Flores added that the ABSC has already assured the society that the 10 kits would be provided.

While all Philosophy freshmen received their freshman kits, UST Concilium Philosophiae chancellor Christian Viteño said three packs lacked the blue cap given to new Artlets.

Butacan said the AB dean’s office had already sent a request letter to the purchasing office for additional freshmen kits.

The high number of enrollees was also among the reasons why some sections of eight AB departments are taking classes at the Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati, O.P. Building and the Thomas Aquinas Research Complex. F—with reports from Rovy Jilyn Fraginal
