THREE FORMER rectors of the UST Central Seminary are among the first recipients of the CENTUPLUM Awards, which recognized 100 living alumni, formators and professors for their service, achievement and contributions to their community.
Fr. Honorato Castigador, O.P. received the award for his leadership and faithful service to the institution and its community on July 27. Castigador, who served as the head of the seminary from 2000 to 2005, holds degrees in philosophy, sacred theology and canon law from UST.
Another awardee, Fr. Ernesto Arceo, O.P., served in UST in 1984 and was installed for a second term as Prior of St. Raymond de Peñafort Convent of UST Legazpi in February 2026. He received the award on July 28.
Fr. Quirico Pedregosa Jr., O.P. was recognized as for his service on Aug. 24 as the seminary rector from 2012 to 2024. He earned his Bachelor’s in Sacred Theology from the UST Faculty of Sacred Theology in 1982 and held three terms as Prior Provincial of the Dominican Province of the Philippines.
Pedregosa also served in the formation ministry and later as General Councilor and Socius for the Asia-Pacific Region of the Master of the Order of Preachers in Rome.
Derived from the Latin centuplum, meaning “a hundredfold,” the awards were inspired by Luke 8:8, which states that seeds that fall on good soil yield an abundant harvest. F
