THE ARCHDIOCESE of Manila will launch “Audiam: A Listening Heart for a Synodal Church,” a collection of selected homilies by its archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula this September.
The Thomasian cardinal’s book launch will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at the Manila Cathedral as part of the celebration of his double jubilee. He will be marking 50 years of his priestly ordination and 25 years of his espiscopal ordination.
The book Audiam, meaning “I will listen,” reflects on cultivating a listening heart as the Church continues its synodal journey.
The volume compiles Advincula’s reflections throughout his priestly and episcopal ministry, offering readers insights drawn from his preaching and pastoral service.
More than a collection of homilies, the publication also serves as a commemorative offering celebrating the countless lives shaped and inspired by Advincula’s ministry. Its pages bring together messages originally delivered on different occasions, preserving them in a single volume for readers to revisit beyond their original settings.
The collection also presents Advincula’s reflections on the challenges and realities encountered by the Church and the faithful throughout his ministry.
Before the official launch, a eucharistic celebration will also be held at the Manila Cathedral to celebrate Advincula’s years of service in the Church.
Advincula finished his bachelor of Sacred Theology at the University of Santo Tomas in 1975. He was proclaimed a cardinal by Pope Francis on November 28, 2020 and appointed Manila archbishop in March 25, 2021.
In 2022, he was awarded The Outstanding Thomasian Alumni Award for Service to the Church. F
