THE UST Golden Tigresses were swept by the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Lady Altas, 15-25, 18-25, 18-25, in the V-League Collegiate Challenge on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Gameville Central Park.

Returning Reg Jurado led UST with nine points, while Marga Altea added eight.

UST stumbled out of the gates as Perpetual built a double-digit lead in the opening frame.

The Lady Altas kept the pressure on, with Jem Menor punctuating the set with a cross-court kill to hand Perpetual a 25-15 win.

The Tigresses again played catch-up in the second set as the Lady Altas’ attack proved too much to contain.

Perpetual unleashed 16 attacks compared to UST’s eight, pulling away for a 25-18 set victory.

UST could not find a remedy for Perpetual’s bursty mini-runs in the third set as Menor once again delivered the finishing blow, drilling a kill to seal the win.

Menor chalked 16 points on 15 attacks, while Camille Bustamante added 13 points and three aces.

The result knotted Perpetual, UST and San Beda in a 2-2 win-loss standing.

The Golden Tigresses will seek to bounce back on Sunday, Sept. 13, against winless Letran at the same venue. F
