A BLOWOUT ending in a match between the UST Growling Tigresses and the NU Lady Bulldogs sparked a heated altercation between members of the teams’ respective coaching staff.
In a Facebook post of the UST Women’s Basketball Team on Saturday, Oct. 10 addressed the commotion between assistant coaches Arsenio Dysangco of the Tigresses and Paul Du of the Bulldogs, saying that losing is no excuse for “poor sportsmanship.”
“Win or lose, respect should never go out the window. Emotions are part of the game, but this kind of behavior has no place in sports,” the team said.
When both teams went on a postgame handshake after the Tigresses’ 90-66 win, Du shoved Dysangco by extending his elbow, which made the latter fall down and seek medical assistance.
Dysangco was escorted outside the venue in a wheelchair until the Tigresses reached the locker room.
The Tigresses’ coaching staff has yet to receive an update from the league on the incident.
With the España-based squad’s victory, the Lady Bulldogs had their 3-0 winning streak snapped. F
