THE UST Golden Booters snagged a 3-2 victory over the FEU Tamaraws, securing their third straight win in the UAAP Season 89 men’s football tournament on Thursday, Oct. 22, at the UP Diliman Football Field.
UST improved to a 3-0-2 win-draw-loss record to solidify its hold on fourth place in the standings.
Trez Mariñas opened the scoring in the third minute converting a free kick from outside the box before Japjap Baito doubled the lead with a curled long-range strike in the 10th minute, 2-0.
FEU pulled one back in the 43rd minute through Theo Libarnes, who sailed the ball past the goalkeeper, 2-1.
Libarnes then assisted Karl Absalon for the equalizer in the 48th minute.
With the match seemingly headed for a draw, Baito struck again in the 92nd minute, curling a long-distance free kick into the net to complete his brace.
