AB forms new dance org

THE FACULTY of Arts and Letters (AB) has officially established its new dance organization, BA Dauncén, following the disbandment of AB Dance Synergy (ABDS), the former official dance troupe of the Faculty, in 2018.

Interim President Kaela Madrunio said that the former president of ABDS approached and asked her to reestablish the dance troupe but decided to form a new dance organization instead.

“[I] decided to just put up a new one since I am not familiar with ABDS, and since I am also eager to form a dance team under the faculty, we named it BA Dauncén,” Madrunio told The Flame in an online interview.

The name of the organization was derived from the Middle English verb Dauncén, which means to dance, Madrunio said.

Madrunio said that since the BA Dauncén is still in its infancy stage, they have not yet scheduled any major projects.

“However, we are planning to collaborate with the AB Student Council to revive the Cypher Streetdance Competition this coming April, and certainly, it will still be a virtual competition,” she added.

Cypher is the annual inter-major street dance competition of AB held during the annual AB Week.

The newly-recognized organization is currently looking for members who will become part of its three teams namely the dance, management team, and creatives team. F
