THE CERTIFICATES of candidacy (COCs) of seven of the eight candidates for this year’s Artlets Student Council (ABSC) polls have been suspended right after the proclamation of elected officers for the next academic year due to alleged violations of elections rules.

The COCs of president-elect Timothy Santiago, candidate for internal vice-president Josh Moncayo, external vice president-elect Matthew Enriquez, secretary-elect Hannah Calara, secretary aspirant Gabriel Gabrillo, auditor-elect Joseph Coronel and public relations officer-elect Rachelle Mirasol were suspended, according to a resolution released by the AB Commission on Elections (AB Comelec) on April 1.

AB Comelec chairman Franz Soriano told The Flame that the suspension cannot be revealed yet as they are “under hearings.”

“The suspension is up until final judgment. As long as the hearing is ongoing, the CoCs are suspended,” he said.

Soriano clarified that there would be “no ascension” for the suspended candidates who got the highest votes until all cases are cleared.

Meanwhile, independent candidate Justine Claire Ello, who garnered 595 votes or 44.87% of the total votes cast, has been declared as the winner of the race for ABSC internal vice president.

According to the commission, the voter turnout was only 40.12% of the Artlet community, which is 1,326 out of 3,305 AB students. F – Aubrey Shane Lim, Shayne Lee Andreas Macaraeg and Bless Aubrey Ogerio
