THE NUMBER of applicants for the UST Entrance Test (USTET) this year nears the total number of examinees in the previous year two days before the exam, but it may still increase before the end of the application period.
Around 48,000 aspiring Thomasians applied to take the USTET for academic year 2025-2026 as of Oct. 18, data from the Office for Admissions (OFAD) showed.
The total number of examinees last year was 50,067.
“To date, around 48,000 pre-registrants have been received in the application portal. If they complete their applications in time for the remaining test schedules, then they become eligible to take the USTET. The number is expected to increase further until the last USTET schedule in 2025,” OFAD Director Assoc. Prof. Emelda Dakis told The Flame.
Around 5,500 applicants are scheduled to take the first batch of USTET on Sunday, Oct. 20 at the España campus, nearly half of the first-batch examinees last year at 10,510. Of the figure, about 3,700 are college applicants, including those for the Learning-Enhanced Accelerated Program for Medicine (LEAPMed), while 1,800 examinees are senior high school (SHS) applicants.
