UST ECONOMICS alumna Marie Jeannete Cordero has been appointed director III of the Development Information Staff (DIS), a communications and management arm of the Department of Economy, Planning and Development (DEPDev).

Cordero took her oath on Thursday, June 11, at the DEPDev central office in Mandaluyong. It was administered by the agency’s secretary, Arsenio Balisacan.

The director III position is a senior executive and managerial position and usually heads a specific division.

DEPDev is a government agency for planning large-scale development initiatives. It coordinates with agencies such as the Department of Budget and Management.

The director obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree from UST in 2007.

She later earned her master’s degree in Development Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines under the Middle Managers Class Batch 30-Sillag, a leadership program for mid-career government officials.

Before entering government service, Cordero worked as a reporter for BusinessWorld. F – N.A.
