AFTER A series of undecided transfers, a former Gilas Youth standout finally found his home in España.
Going from DLSU, UE, to FEU, playmaker Prince Ray “Mur” Alao decided to commit with the UST Growling Tigers and is expected to suit up in UAAP Season 88.
“UST is really final… Coach Pido wants me even before,” Alao told The Flame.
“I was not able to continue in UE because my parents stumbled upon Coach Pido out of nowhere… That time after UE, I also went to FEU, then after that, UST,” he added.
The 20-year-old Alao will be eligible to play for the Tigers next season after he completes his one-year residency this year.
“After I serve my residency, I still have three years playing time… So, next year, I will be playing… The rule is one year rest, [and] two years will be deducted,” the guard said.
The 6’2 guard expressed excitement on reuniting with his former teammates Nic Cabanero from the San Beda Red Cubs and Forthsky Padrigao from the Batang Gilas.
“I will learn a lot from my teammates Nic and Forthsky… We go way back, with Nic, since the Beda days,” Alao said.
Alao looks forward to showcasing his leadership to the new-look of the Tigers together with former CSB Blazer Michael Mara who is also serving his year of residency.
“I am really a pass-first [player]… [I]t depends on the situation… But leadership is what they [Tigers] will get from me,” he said. F
