THE UST Growling Tigers will share the hardwood with celebrities from the Sparkle GMA Artist Center in The Roar: Celebrity Match-up exhibition game slated for Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The ceremonial signing of the agreement on the exhibition game was led by UST Secretary-General Fr. Louie Coronel, along with representatives from GMA Network and FlexIt Mobility Solutions Inc on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the UST Rector’s Hall.

“We’ve had many collaborations with GMA, and today, we’re opening another. May ‘The Roar’ that rises today be more than a sound of excitement, may it be the voice of the youth, strong in body, strong in mind, and generous in spirit,” Coronel said.

The event seeks to generate additional assistance for UST’s athletic programs through ticket sales, sponsorships and institutional partnerships, while providing alumni and supporters the opportunity to contribute to the development and welfare of the university’s athletes

Office of Student Affairs (OSA) director Asst. Prof. Jaezamie Ong described the match as a celebration of Thomasian pride and shared purpose.

“The event brings together UST athletes, students, administrators… and GMA Sparkle Artists in one meaningful campus experience in the university,” Ong said.

“The Roar aims to strengthen the connection among members of the Thomasian community, while giving the audience an exciting and memorable event,” she added.

The opening game will feature the U-19 squad of the UST Tiger Cubs against an ‘All-Star’ group composed of school administrators, academic staff and alumni.

It will be followed by the main event, which will see the Growling Tigers clashing with the hoop stars from the Sparkle Artist group. F
