THE ASSISTANT dean of the Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB) has been appointed as a member and elected secretary of the Multi-Sector Governance Council (MSGC) of the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH), the country’s lead government institution for psychiatric and mental health services.
Assoc. Prof. John Manuel Kliatchko, who also serves as president of the Psychological Association of the Philippines, will join the council, which brings together representatives from the government, private sector and civil society to help shape the NCMH’s policies and long-term directions.
As council secretary, Kliatchko will take part in the MSGC’s initiatives to improve mental health governance through intersectoral collaboration.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Aug. 5, the Faculty described Kliatchko’s appointment as a reflection of continued efforts to promote mental health leadership and strengthen partnerships across different sectors.
Before assuming the post of assistant dean in 2024, Kliatchko served as AB secretary in 2023 and chaired the defunct Department of Interdisciplinary Studies from 2019 to 2023, during which he oversaw the Asian Studies, Behavioral Science and Legal Management programs.
Kliatchko earned his bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science in 1986 and his master’s degree in Psychology in 1998, both from UST. F
