THE NUMBER of students who enrolled in UST for the first term of the academic year 2026-2027 rose by 2.05% to 45,731 from 44,812 in the same period last year, but it was the slowest growth since the hybrid setup was adopted.
The number of enrollees from academic years 2023-2024, 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 increased by 3% and 4%, respectively. The number of enrollees totaled 41,554 in 2023-2024, 42,941 in 2024-2025 and 44,812 in 2025-2026.
UST implemented the hybrid modality of learning in 2023, three years after the COVID-19 pandemic. It adopted a purely online setup during the height of the public health crisis.
This academic year, UST recorded 38,530 enrollees from its various faculties, colleges and institutes, according to the final enrollment data obtained by The Flame from Office of the Registrar.
The high school and senior high school, collectively known as basic education, had a total of 7,268 enrollees.
Among the colleges, the Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB) logged 4,664 enrolled students.
The figure is the highest number of AB enrollees so far, surpassing the first term of last academic year’s tally of 4,315.
Artlets freshmen totaled 1,277, while the number of sophomores hit 1,194. The number of Settlers juniors and seniors reached 1,073 and 1,120, respectively. Among the 13 programs of AB, the Communication department drew the highest number of enrollees at 843, while the Literature department registered the least number of students at 77.
The Faculty of Engineering posted the second highest number of enrolled students for this academic year at 4,046, followed by the Faculty of Pharmacy at 3,439 students.
The College of Commerce and the College of Science had the same number of enrollees at 3,008 students.
The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery posted 2,178 enrollees, followed by the College of Information and Computing Sciences with 2,176 and the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management with 2,125.
A total of 2,064 students enrolled in the UST-AMV College of Accountancy while the College of Architecture garnered 1,898 students.
The number of enrollees in the College of Fine Arts and Design reached 1,849, followed by the Graduate School at 1,746 and the College of Education at 1,717 students.
The College of Rehabilitation and Science logged 1,339 students for the academic year, while the College of Nursing lured 839 students.
The Faculty of Civil Law recorded a total number of 831 enrollees, followed by the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics at 503 and the Conservatory of Music at 464.
The Graduate School of Law posted 173 students while the Faculty of Theology recorded 157 enrollees. The Faculty of Philosophy posted 98 students.
A total of 77 students enrolled in the Faculty of Canon Law while 64 took review classes or short courses
