THE DE La Salle – College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) clinched the School of the Year title for the fourth consecutive year with 54 plums at the 12th Student Quill Awards on Aug. 27.
DLS-CSB’s Student Publications Unit and Culture and Arts Unit earned 31 Merit Awards and 22 Excellence Awards.
The University of Santo Tomas followed with 19 accolades, comprising nine Excellence Awards and 11 Merit Awards. It also earned its first Excellence Award in the corporate category this year, bringing home a total of 20 plums.
The Flame, the official publication of the UST Faculty of Arts and Letters, was the most awarded Thomasian entity with four Excellence Awards and five Merit Awards.
The Flame‘s entries won in the award-giving body’s Division 4: Communication Skills, with submissions consisting of stories on sports, lifestyle, religion, campus traditions, academe and student life.

The rest of UST’s awards were contributed by TOMCAT-UST, the student-led premier events management and media production organization (4), The Varsitarian, the official student publication (3) and the Tiger Media Network, the broadcasting arm (3).
The College of Innovation and Integrated Technology got the third highest number of awards in the student category with eight plums.
The annual Student Quill Awards honor works in communication, research and creative pieces across the country.
Each entry is evaluated using the International Association of Business Communicators’ global standard, which encompassed six principles: ethics, consistency, context, analysis, strategy and engagement. F – N.A.
