Former UST rector wins best opinion column anew in Catholic Mass Media Awards

A FORMER UST rector bagged the best opinion column award for the third consecutive year at the 45th Catholic Mass Media Awards.

Fr. Rolando de la Rosa, O.P. was recognized for his weekly Manila Bulletin column “Through Untrue” last Friday, Oct. 27.

His work, which tackles the application of Bible passages to real-life conditions, bested four other finalists under the print opinion column category. “Through Untrue” covers topics such as mental health and sociopolitical issues.

De la Rosa first won the award in 2021, followed by another win for the same column last year. He has been a weekly columnist for the Manila Bulletin since 1990.

Dela Rosa was the University’s rector from 1990 to 1998 and 2008 to 2012. He served as chairman of the Commission on Higher Education under former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

De la Rosa teaches at the UST Faculty of Sacred Theology as a full-time professor, specializing in Church history.

Established in 1978, the Catholic Mass Media Awards annually honors outstanding individuals and organizations nationwide for their various mass media productions promoting Christian values and ideals. F
