
A FIRE broke out in a residential building along Loyola corner Jhocson street in Sampaloc, Manila on Saturday, Jan. 18, affecting about 30 families, fire authorities said.
Fire Senior Inspector Cesar Babante said around 90 persons were affected by the fire, which hit an area facing the UST España gate.
No one died or was hurt during the incident, he added.
“Based on the total number of (affected) families, it is at about thirty…We have an estimated damage of P800,000 more or less,” Babante told The Flame.
“It (origin of fire) is still being investigated by our arson investigators.”
The fire started at 5:03 a.m. and was raised to the first alarm at 5:06 a.m, according to the Sampaloc Manila Fire Station.
The fire escalated to a second alarm after two minutes. It reached the third alarm at 5:12 a.m.
Firefighters managed to control the blaze at 6:22 a.m. They declared a fire out at 6:47 a.m
About 20 fire trucks responded to the scene, according to Babante. F
