THE REIGNING champions UST Growling Tigresses secured the commitment of Fil-Am forward Kayla Williams, bringing US NCAA Division I talent to España, the team announced on social media on Friday, May 22.

Standing at 6-foot, Williams previously suited up for the Northern Arizona University (NAU) Lumberjacks and is expected to be a one-and-done for UST in UAAP Season 89.

As a senior at NAU, Williams averaged 6.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, hitting 44.5% from the three-point line in 12.5 minutes across 29 games. She posted a career-high 32-point outing on 10-for-12 shooting against Eastern Washington.

In her last season for the Lumberjacks, the San Diego-native also earned a Big Sky Player of the Week award and was later named to the Big Sky Winter All-Academic Team.

UST head coach Haydee Ong flew to California to meet Williams and her family.

Williams is set to join a dominant Tigresses squad, which won the 5×5 and 3×3 titles led by outgoing veterans Kent Pastrana and Eka Soriano. F – Lara Sofia Alvarez
