Eya Laure leads Alas Pilipinas to first Vietnam win since 2019

FORMER GOLDEN Tigresses captain Eya Laure powered Alas Pilipinas to a hard-fought victory over Vietnam in the 6th SEA V Cup 2026 Women’s Leg 2 at Chiang Mai, Thailand on Saturday, Aug. 8.

Laure delivered when it mattered most, firing back-to-back points to seal the Philippines’ 22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22 comeback win over Vietnam.

Laure paced the national squad with 22 points, while former NU Lady Bulldogs duo Alyssa Solomon and Bella Belen chipped in 17 and 16 points, respectively.

The victory gave Alas Pilipinas its first win of the second leg after going winless in Leg 1 and bouncing back from a straight-set defeat to Thailand in its previous outing.

The win also marked the Philippines’ first victory over Vietnam since 2019, snapping a 15-game losing streak against the Vietnamese side.

Alas Pilipinas will look to carry the momentum into its next match against Indonesia on Sunday, Aug. 9. F
